Q: What are the requirements for admission?

A: Below are the steps for successful MBA admission:

Evaluation for admission to the MBA program is based upon the following requirements. Each individual applicant is responsible for any payments and fees associated with these items. The Provost informs individual applicants of provisional, conditional, or full admission to the MBA Program.

  • A completed Graduate Application Form.
  • Payment of the $50.00 application fee. Checks should be made payable to Martin Methodist College.
  • A letter of intent explaining the reasons the applicant wants to enter the MBA program. The individual applicant should discuss their previous managerial or work experience in the letter of intent. Waivers from MBA admissions requirements are not granted for work or managerial experience.
  • Official transcripts for ALL previous undergraduate and graduate course work. This must include a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States, or equivalent preparation acquired in another country. Transcripts issued outside the United States must be evaluated by the World Education Services at http://wes.org.
  • At least three (3) letters of recommendation in support of the individual’s application, from a faculty member, manager, colleague, or another person who can speak to the applicant’s capacity and potential as an MBA candidate and a manager. Letters should be submitted directly to the Office of Academic Affairs.
  • An interview with the MBA Admissions Committee, consisting of the MBA Director and other full time faculty in the MBA program. The applicant will be contacted to schedule this interview.
  • For an applicant whose first language is other than English, a minimum TOEFL score of 550. See http://www.ets.org/toefl for information about the TOEFL exam. Upon acceptance to the MBA program and arrival on campus, international applicants will be interviewed by a representative of the English as a Second Language (ESL) program to review of the applicant’s speaking and listening skills during academic discourse in English.
  • GMAT total score or GRE score equivalent as converted by the ETS GRE comparison tool for business schools. Test scores must be within 5 years of the applicant’s Graduate Application Form submission. Each applicant is responsible for registering and scheduling for these exam(s). See http://mba.com for information about the GMAT, and http://gre.com for information about the GRE.
  • Note: An applicant who holds a graduate degree from a regionally accredited university in a field related to business or management or who has the equivalent preparation acquired in another country may file a written request for a waiver from the GMAT or GRE standardized exam requirement. The official transcripts for the graduate degree, as well as a written description of the program of study, must be submitted with the request. The applicant’s request and materials will be reviewed by the MBA Program Director and the MBA Admissions Committee. Transcripts for international degrees must be evaluated by World Education Services.
