Approximately 47% of the full-time day students at Martin Methodist play intercollegiate athletics. This percentage is not unusual for small liberal arts colleges nationwide. Sports programs bolster the campus environment, raising spirit and pride, and offer additional campus activities. They provide attachment to the college, which aids retention of students and the recruitment of new ones. Martin Methodist has been extremely successfuil in its athletic programs over the years. The new gymnasium offers appropriate space for indoor sports, and the development of the East Campus will meet the needs of soccer, baseball, softball, and tennis.
