Giles County History
Situated on the edge of the Tennessee Valley, near the center of the southern boundary of Tennessee, Giles County is approximately 30 miles (north to south) by 20 miles (east to west), with an area of 619 square miles. Giles County is 70 miles south of Nashville and 40 miles north of Huntsville, Alabama, two of the south's most progressive cities. Its topography is beautifully contoured by rocks and high, winding ridges in the north (1,100 ft. elev.) and stretches to the deep fertile valleys of Richland Creek and the Elk River in the south (600 ft. elev.)

As well as serving as an ideal distribution center, the Giles County area has a number of important assets which are attractive to new and growing industries. In the last 10 years, growing industries have created 2,142 new jobs. The county now boasts six Fortune 500 companies, two Fortune 100 companies and literally dozens of other vital businesses that have chosen Giles County as their base of operations. There are many good reasons to expect growth to continue: good highways, natural beauty, good labor climate, exceptional quality of life, low costs of living, a willing and eager supply of labor, cooperative city and county governments.
The Population of Giles County is 29,447. The county's main town of Pulaski has a population of 7,871. Ardmore on the eastern side has 1,082. Elkton on the southeastern side has 510. Minor Hill consists of 437, also on the southern side. Lynnville on the northern end has a population of 345.
