Jac Cole

Dr. Jac Cole, Associate Professor of Mathematics and Coordinator of the Mathematics Program
Email Address: jcole@martinmethodist.edu
Office: Martin Hall, Room 2

Dr. Cole was born and raised in Northeast Arkansas, the son to parents, both of whom majored in mathematics while in college.  Initially an English major at Hendrix College, Dr. Cole soon switched his major to mathematics with a minor in economics.  He loved his time at Hendrix because most of his classes were small, and he liked the sense of community on campus and was able to make real connections with most of his professors. Dr. Cole continued his study of mathematics at Vanderbilt University where he was a graduate teaching assistant and conducted research in the area of Abstract Algebra looking at structures that had both operations on them as well as an order. After completing the Ph.D. at Vanderbilt University, Dr. Cole taught at two liberal arts colleges, Huntingdon College and the University of Montevallo, both in Alabama, before coming to Martin Methodist College.  Here, he has taught across the mathematics curriculum – from developmental and general education courses to upper-level courses for majors – as well as in the First Year Experience program.
