BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
The Christian Education program seeks to give students the biblical, theological, theoretical, and practical background necessary to function in an entry-level position as a church youth worker, children’s worker, Christian Education director, or program director.
The major in Christian Education is designed for those students who wish to enter the field of Christian education, or to pursue graduate work in Christian Education or other theological disciplines. Graduates will be qualified for certification by the United Methodist General Board of Higher Education and Ministry if desired.
GOALS Graduates of the Bachelor’s Degree program in Christian Education will:
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the Christian faith.
- Possess a theoretical understanding of spiritual and psychological development, learning styles, and pedagogical techniques as applied to a religious setting.
- Be qualified for certification by the United Methodist General Board of Higher Education and Ministry if desired.
- Be prepared for graduate work in Christian Education or other theological disciplines if desired.
- Possess skills needed to move into entry-level positions in the field of Christian Education.
