BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN HISTORY
History is an important part of the liberal arts curriculum. History helps students to understand how past events have shaped them and their society. It also helps them to understand their society’s position in history as well as its position with other cultures. Martin Methodist College offers a variety of United States and World History courses to help students understand the vast diversity of cultures in today’s world.
The study of history at Martin Methodist helps students to develop the necessary skills for careers in teaching, law, civil service, and research.
The History Program at Martin Methodist College offers students a history major, a joint history and political science major, a pre-law emphasis,* and the 7-12 licensure.
GOALS
- Graduates will possess a sound command of historical material encompassing various regions of the world.
- Graduates will demonstrate the ability to communicate well, orally and in writing; construct and analyze expository arguments; and deploy basic tools for historical method with respect to identifying and handling sources, conventional notation, etc.
- Graduates will demonstrate a mastery of knowledge concerning professional opportunities and criteria and educational requirements for various disciplines within the field of History.
