INTERNATIONAL STUDENT APPLICATION AND ADMISSION
International students must achieve a score of 197 on the computer-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or 550 on the paper form of the TOEFL exam in order to be admitted to the Division of Nursing. Because nursing requires a student to communicate effectively and clearly with clients, the Division of Nursing also requires demonstration of proficiency in spoken English. The Test for Spoken English is requisite for application and a score of 200 or above must be achieved. These tests can be scheduled at Prometric, a Sylvan Learning Center located at 2691 Sandlin Rd., S.W., Decatur, Alabama 25601 (Phone number 256-350-8324). The cost is $140.00 and the length of time to take the tests is 4 hours and 30 minutes. Applicants are responsible for this cost and can register for the test by contacting the TOEFL Center at 1-800-gotoefl or by registering on-line at www.ets.org/toefl.
