Important Information for Prospective International Students
See below or: Click Here
International Students who show evidence of ability to communicate in English and to benefit from Martin Methodist College's educational program will be considered for admission. Evidence of English proficiency can be demonstrated by achieving a minimum score of 450 on the written, or 175 on the computerized version, of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or by successful completion of an English Language Institute approved by the College. A statement of financial responsibility is required. An official transcript of the last four years of academic work must also be submitted. Inquiries concerning studies in colleges in the United States may be directed to United States Embassies and Consulates. All international students must undergo placement testing prior to registration and, based upon performance, may be required to take classes in English as a Second Language (ESL).
Applicants to Martin Methodist College who are citizens of a foreign country must complete the regular application form, either on line or by mail. It is recommended that an international applicant include a mailed or faxed copy of his or her passport since everything on the SEVIS I-20 must match the information on the passport.
The general procedure for international applicants is as follows:
- The prospective student applies to and is accepted by Martin Methodist College.
- The prospective student completes and returns the "Required Financial Information" form and "Financial Support Documentation" to the Martin Methodist College International Student Advisor
-
Prospective international student pays the SEVIS I-901 fee. The most expedient method is to do this online and immediately print a receipt. (see SEVIS fee Information)
Transfer Students
F-1 students who are already studying in the United States must first apply to Martin Methodist College and be accepted. Once accepted, the existing SEVIS I-20 record will be transferred from the former institution to Martin Methodist College. This is best accomplished through direct contact between the International Student Adviser at the former institution and the International Student Adviser at MMC.
