 Welcome to Martin Methodist College's
Academy for Congregational Leaders

Are you looking for ways to be faithful to God’s call?  Are you seeking to strengthen your life as a disciple of Jesus Christ?  Are you searching for a spirit-filled ministry in your local church and want to be better equipped to serve your church in effective ways?  We invite you to join us!   We are offering a leadership building program for people engaged in Christian service in the church.

You are invited to a basic course of study (The Core Courses) in spiritual formation and discipleship, biblical foundation for leadership, theology, worship, Christian education, and United Methodism.  Building on the basic course of study the Academy will offer the specialization tracks in the areas of small-group leadership, teaching, youth ministries, older adult ministry coordinators, administrators, care-giving ministries, evangelism and many other fields.  With this program, our Academy graduates will be leading in congregations in the various fields God has called and gifted them.

Servant-leaders from all walks of life are invited to participate.  We anticipate that you will love our courses and benefit from the support network of people, who like you, are seeking to better serve Christ in the community.  Martin Methodist College is committed to equip believers by means of theological education, practical know-how, and spiritual development through the guidance of distinguished faculty and experts in their fields.

I hope you will explore this catalog and find a “ministry emphasis” that fits in your own journey to be a leader in ministry.  If I can help you along your spiritual journey or with any questions, don’t hesitate to call me.  I am eager to hear from you.

Peace and Grace,

Domenic Nigrelli, Ph.D.

See what people are saying about the ACL!

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations..."

I, personally, think that Christian Education is of great importance for all who are called to assist in God's kingdom building here on earth.  Attending the Academy for Congregational Leaders, has been a great asset in my growth and preparation for working in the church.  The leaders of ACL have provided a wealth of resources for obtaining knowledge of the church, as well as, ways of implementation.  The leaders are experts in the field and certainly give practical and biblical understanding of the subject matter presented.

It was an enriching experience to find our spiritual gifts and develop our personal mission statements.  Some of the class texts were very thought provoking and as I was reading them I imagined the lively class discussions we would be having. I was able to learn from the text, instructors, and my fellow classmates.  I was able to deepen my faith journey and for that I am truly grateful.

I found a program that helped me to:
  • Identify my God given strengths and gifts
  • Identify ways to use those strengths and gifts to better serve God and the Church
  • Develop a PMAP (personal Ministry Action Plan) for service
  • And help me answer the question... Where/how is God calling me to serve.. next? ... a question I had been struggling with for a while.
I also found a group of loving supportive people... of different ages... in different stages in life... all committed to serving God ... serving others ... reaching out to others... wanting to learn to be better servant leaders.

Dianne Draper Holland, ACL Participant
