Course Content
United Methodist - Who are we?
United Methodist distinctive beliefs including sacraments, grace, revelation and how our history shapes us as United Methodist.
Just the Bible
An overview of the Old and New Testaments and the role of the Bible in the church's educational ministry.
Teaching Teachers
Helpful tips and theory in teaching teachers to teach including: learning styles, classroom management, lesson plans, recruitment and evaluation.
Administration
How to deal with administration issues such as: risk management, safe sanctuary, budget, planning, evaluation and planning a comprehensive “programmatic" Ministry.
Leadership
Leadership theory and development including focus on spiritual gifts. We will also examine staff relationships as well as gifted and called "volunteers".
Faith Development
Age developmental issues esp. related to faith development and building experiences that lead people toward deeper faith.
Three Certifications Offered: Christian Education, Youth Ministry, Older Adult Ministry, and Children's Ministry
The six foundational courses are offered once a year.
The three specific courses are offered when five students are identified.
Each course has a three part accountability structure
