Ministry in a Small Church

Guest Speaker:  Betsey Heavner is director of leadership for Congregational renewal at the General Board of Discipleship.  Her passion for equipping people for leadership is evidenced in training modules she has developed for S/PPRC, trustees, finance leaders, church councils, nominations committees and others.  Betsey is a member of the United Methodist Appalachian Ministry Network, with provides education and training for leaders in small membership churches.  She teaches, writes, leads retreats, offers spiritual direction and supports networks of conference leaders of church renewal and downtown church leaders.  Betsey is a member of the NWTX annual conference where she served in congregations and on conference staff.  She has taught at license to preach schools, and coordinated the NWTX candidacy process for the Board of Ordained Ministry for 7 years.  In Nashville, Betsey was an active leader for 4 years in a small membership church and currently worships at Edgehill UMC.
