Four new full-time faculty members have joined Martin Methodist College for the 2011-12 academic year, along with six new members of the administrative staff.
Joining the faculty are:

Dr. Sheree Allen, assistant professor of chemistry, an organic chemist who holds the B.S. degree from Texas Lutheran University and the Ph.D. degree from Baylor University. She taught at Radford University in Virginia before coming to Martin Methodist.

Douglas Dorer, associate professor of biology, a geneticist who holds the B.S. degree from Haverford College, the M.S. degree from Yale University, and the Ph.D. degree from Thomas Jefferson University. He was had four years of postdoctoral experience at Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Seattle, Wash., and has taught at Meharry Medical College, Austin Peay State University, and Hartwick College.

Deborah Hargrove, instructor of nursing, a family nurse practitioner and registered parish nurse who holds the L.P.N. and the A.S.N. degrees from Calhoun Community College, the B.S.N. and M.S.N. degrees from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Dr. Alicia Webb, assistant professor of psychology, whose primary area of study has been in the area of geriatric psychology. She holds the B.A. degree from Transylvania University and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Kentucky. She has taught at the University of Kentucky, Bellarmine University, Transylvania University, and Ohio University.
In addition to these new faculty members, two other members of the faculty have new assignments this year. Natalie Lewter, who has served as director of the Student Resource Center for the past two years, has moved to full-time teaching and serves as coordinator of the TESOL (Teaching English to Speakersof Other Languages) and ESL (English as a Second Language) programs. Replacing her as director of the Student Resource Center is B.J. Keeton, who last year served as associate director of the SRC on a half-time basis while also serving as an instructor of English half-time. In addition to his full-time SRC duties, he will teach one course in English. Lisa James has assumed the position of assistant director of the Student Resource Center on a full-time basis.

Andrew Brown, registrar, who comes to Martin Methodist from the University of Tennessee-Martin, where he spent the past six years as assistant director International Initiatives and Grant Coordinator for the Center for Global Studies/Center for International Education. He received his undergraduate degree with honors in communications/public relations from UT-Martin and then earned a master of arts degree in religion and education from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. He has done additional graduate study at Middle Tennessee State University,University of Memphis, and UT-Martin.

Casey Capps, assistant registrar, an honors graduate in English from the University of West Alabama who previously worked in student advising at Calhoun Community College in Decatur, Ala.

Tyson John, head coach for women’s soccer, who coached the Lyon College women’s team for the past two seasons. He is a graduate of Southern Wesleyan University.

Yuri Kariya, assistant coach for men’s soccer, a 2011 graduate of Auburn University-Montgomery, where he was a standout member of the men’s soccer team.

Chris McBride, assistant coach for women’s soccer, a 2011 graduate of Martin Methodist who was a standout on the RedHawk men’s team.

Angela Wilson, assistant athletic trainer, who earned her undergraduate degree at Cumberland University, where she played volleyball, and her graduate degree from the University of North Alabama, where she was a graduate assistant in the athletic training office.
