The Paichai University Choir and Dance Troupe from Daejeon, South Korea, will perform four times in Pulaski during Feb. 5-6.
The first performance will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at Martin Methodist College’s Martin Hall Auditorium. The group will then perform three times on Friday: 9 a.m. at Southside Elementary School; 10:30 a.m. at Growing Tree Preschool; and at 1 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club.
The public is invited to any of these performances, and there is no admission charge.
The Paichai students will perform samulnori (traditional Korean folk music) and fan dances choreographed in cultural traditions. This marks the second consecutive year at the group has performed in Pulaski.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and our community to experience the creative talents of students from another part of the world and enjoy their traditional music,” said Dr. Ted Brown, president of Martin Methodist College. “We’re very excited to have the Paichai University group as our guests once again this year.”
Paichai University was founded in 1885 by missionaries to Korea. Today the school has more than 14,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs.
