Writing Center

Our desire is to cultivate the importance of writing as a process.  We want to help students become independent, capable of recognizing and capitalizing on their strengths, and identifying and correcting their weaknesses. Students will find the Center to be a relaxed, yet professional atmosphere where writers across the curriculum can become more comfortable with the writing process and be inspired to love language and learning.

How best to use our services

Come prepared:
Be on time for appointments.
Know what your assignment is and bring or submit a copy assignment sheet, if you have one.
Bring or submit whatever work you have done on your essay (for example, if you have an outline, bring it; or if   you have a draft, bring a typed copy).
Be ready to ask specific questions about your essay.
Be reasonable in your expectations.
Plan ahead and make your appointment early, so that you have time to revise with the help that you receive, and so that you can come back again, if needed.
Know that we can help you become a better writer over time, not in one thirty minute session.
Know that we will not write your paper for you, but help you with problems you may have and teach you how to write more effectively.
While your goal may be for an A, ours is to help you progress as a writer.

Participate:
Ask questions.
Answer questions.
Take notes and write on your essay.
      Take ownership of your work.
