Martin Players
The Martin Players, under the direction of drama coach and English Department Chair Dr. Kayla McKinney Wiggins, are an enthusiastic group of students interested in learning about stage performance, behind-the-scenes theatrical support, and all stages of dramatic production.

Our goal is at least two productions per year, with one of them being a play by William Shakespeare or other verse drama. Students interested in directing can serve as student directors; English majors may choose to direct and write about a play for their senior thesis.

We have been presenting an outdoor Shakespeare festival in early October every year since 2001. We added a children’s series in 2003, performing for area elementary school children in December and May every year. Students also have the opportunity to direct. Two productions in the past have been directed by students: Krapp’s Last Tape by Samuel Beckett (2000) and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) by The Reduced Shakespeare Company (2004). Community involvement is encouraged for the Shakespeare festival and the children’s series.
