Frequently Asked Questions & Procedures

Q. How do I set up email on my phone?
A. Follow these instructions:
  1. Make sure you are connected to the internet.
  2. If this is the first email account on your smartphone, tap Mail. Otherwise, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account.
  3. Tap Microsoft Exchange.
  4. Leave the Domain filed blank then under Username, enter your Martin Methodist email account example then provide your password.
  5. Tap Next on the upper-right corner of the screen. Your mail program will try to find the settings it needs to set up your account. Go to step 8 if your mail program finds your settings.
  6. In the Server box, enter, and then tap Next.
  7. Choose the type of information you want to synchronize between your account and your device, and then touch Save. By default, Mail, Contacts, and Calendar information are synchronized.
Q: Where is the IT department located?

Q: I forgot my Martin Methodist email’s password?
A: You can submit a password reset request at

by including your Name and your student’s ID number you can also call the IT Help Desk number at 931-424-2009 for immediate assistance. 
Q: I forgot my SONIS account’s password 
A: click on this link SONIS then locate and click on the “here” hyperlink located at the end of the phrase below the LOGIN button.
Q: Can I get a free copy of Microsoft Office installed on my personal computer?
A: Yes you can. Please read the section Free Software for more information.

Cable Television Information

Q: Do we have cable TV on campus?
A: All dorm room and apartments have access to free basic cable TV.
Q: Do I need a converter box? 
A: No. You do not need a converter box; you can plug the cable directly into your TV.
Q: My picture is fuzzy. 
A: If your picture is fuzzy, make sure that the cable is connected tightly to your TV. If the problem persists, contact the tech dept.
Q: My cable connector has fallen off the cable, and now I cannot receive any channels. 
A: If the cable connector has fallen off the cable, please contact the tech dept, so we can replace the connector for you.
Q: Can I get any other packages with my basic cable service? 
A: No, you cannot get any other packages to add to your free service. Our contract allows us to offer all student free basic cable, and not expanded programming.
Q: What channels do I get with my basic cable service? 
A: Go to this website, and you will be able to review the channels that are available to you.

Accounts Information

Q: How do I access my student account to see my grades? 
A: All students can access their student accounts by going to the MMC website and MMC student accounts. Once you enter your PIN number and STUDENT ID, this information will be available to view.
Q: How do I keep my computer account safe? 
A: To keep your computer account safe, you should not give anybody your account information. This also includes Faculty and staff accounts.
Q: I cannot log on to my computer account. 
A: If you cannot logon to your computer account, make sure that you are entering the correct information and that your CAPS LOCK is disabled. If the problem persists, contact the Network administrator.
Q: Where do I find my student account information? 
A: You can find your student account information on the bottom of your student schedule, which will be printed out as you register for classes.
Q: How do I logon to my student e-mail account. 
A: You can logon to your student e-mail account by going to the martin methodist college website, and under student click on webmail. You will have to accept a security certificate. your username is everything before the and your password is your student pin number.
Q: I was not assigned a student account at registration. 
A: This can happen if you are a new student and registering late. You will need to contact the tech dept, so that we can set your accounts up for you.
Q: Can I get Microsoft Office on my PC?
A: As a Martin Methodist student, you have the privilege to install Microsoft Office 365 suite on up to 5 devices of your choice. This gives you the ability to run and use Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access etc. locally on your device.

Please do the following in order to install Microsoft office:

  1. Sign In to your Martin Methodist email account
  2. On the upper right corner of your browser locate and click on the gear icon then then click on office 365 settings
  3. From the opening page, on the left side of the page locate and click on software then locate and click on the install button.

If you wish to install an older version of Microsoft office, please follow step 1 through 3 then locate and click on “Install office Professional Plus 2010.”

Please note that the Microsoft Office 365’s license is only valid if and only if you still a valid Martin Methodist student. 

Martin Methodist College Student Email

Office 365 from Microsoft offers four primary services. OUTLOOK is your email service, One Drive Pro (previously "MY SITE") is SharePoint Online where you can store and share documents, Lync is for instant messaging and online meetings and the TEAM SITE which ties them all together.

Office 365 Team Site.

This is the preferred link to access your Office 365 services. This site has links to other common web sites and documents for MMC Students.

Office 365 Password policy

By default, Office 365 user passwords are set to expire on a regular basis. When your password expires, you are notified when you sign in.

When you create a new password, use the following guidelines:

  • Use 8 to 16 characters.
  • Create a strong password that can’t be easily guessed or cracked. Office 365 requires at least 3 of the following:
  • Lowercase characters
  • Uppercase characters
  • Numbers (0-9)
  • Symbols, including: ! @ # $ % ^ & * - _ + = [ ] { } | \ : ‘ , . ? / ` ~ “ < > ( ) ;
  • Don’t use your user name (the part of your user ID to the left of the @ symbol).
What to do if you forget your password

If you forget your password, you must contact the MMC Help Desk. Send an eMail from your personal account (Google, Yahoo ...) to Do not save this email address. To minimize spam this email address is subject to change without notice.

The Subject of the email must not be blank .. Use something like "Need help with password"

You must include your Student ID and your Martin Methodist email address in the body of the email - along with any notes or comments. If you live on-campus please include your building and room number. If you do not live on campus please include your current address. We will verify all information before acting on your request.

If you do not have a personal account, we recommend setting up a Google account. This will give you access to Google Drive - see below. Or you can come see us in the IT Department - Martin Hall - Room 101

Saving your documents on the web.

MMC provides 500 mBytes of network storage for each student. While this is normally sufficient storage for one semester, we recommend that you always keep a backup of your documents off-site. There are several free services on the web, MMC will support the following three:


7 gBytes - provided by Microsoft - free web apps for Word, Excel and PowerPoint - you can use your MMC email address to create a personal account. For help go to

5 gBytes - provided by Google -- variety of free apps including Google Docs - you must create a Google account. For help go to

SharePoint Online provided by Microsoft -- We are still working on documentation for you for this service, but if you want to dive in it includes several options (Wiki, Blogs ...) where you can collaborate with fellow students.
