The President’s Award, given to the graduating senior(s) with the highest grade point average, was presented to two graduates who tied this year for the top honor: Dacey Lynn Huntley from Leoma, Tenn., received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Jacob Penix from Loretto, Tenn., received a Bachelor of Business Administration
The 2017 Fred E. Ford Exemplary Teaching Award, given to a member of the faculty for outstanding contributions both inside and outside of the classroom, was presented to Dr. Steve West, professor of English.
Saturday’s commencement ceremony brought to a close President Dr. Mark La Branche’s first full academic year with the College. He began his duties as president in July 2017 and was officially inaugurated on April 6, 2018. “My heart is full of pride for our graduates,” La Branche said. “Graduation day brings to fruition all of the hard work and dedication our students put into completing their degrees. Today is their day, and I pray God’s blessing on them as they take their unique place in this world and live out their God-given calling.”
